Ultimate in stupidity- warning rant ahead

The following is so stupid words defy an accurate description of how I feel about the entire situation.

A Sudanese court convicted a British teacher Thursday of insulting Islam for letting her students name a teddy bear Muhammad and sentenced her to 15 days in prison, avoiding a heavier punishment of 40 lashes. The teacher wept in court, insisting she never meant to offend.   For the full story go here...  http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071129/ap_on_re_mi_ea/sudan_british_teacher

All I can say is THEY HAVE GOT TO BE IDIOTS!    My god....over a simple little teddy bear!   They seriously need to lighten the hell up!   What a lovely example they're giving for the children of the world....say something/anything to offend the big bad Islams and they'll throw you in jail.   Even if it's for something innocently done.

Seriously people ...do you honestly think your oh so wonderful prophet would have been upset if a child named a beloved toy after him???    Teddy bears are supposed to bring comfort to children.   What the fuck is so horrible about naming some comfort toy after a man who was supposed to be so great?  Big whoopy deal.....NOT!    OH no....you mustn't do anything to offend the big bad ass Islams....the horror the horror.    GROW the fuck up assholes...and smell the coffee.

I've named my animal companions after various deities, famous people and infamous people...without once being struck by lightning or incurring the wrath of some big all powerful being.      I gave them those names with the greatest of respect....HELLOOOO   that's why you name beloved toys, animal companions AND CHILDREN after people...because you respect them and wish to give them honor.

OH and if there are any Islams reading this and I've upset you......you can kiss my Irish ass.  *bending over and slapping ass to show where to kiss*    I'm not the teeniest bit afraid of you....I'm pagan and live in the buckle of the bible belt.  I see scarier than you, and more of it, before my first cup of morning coffee.

Re: naming the teddy bear

Just a bit tight? I'd say all those generations of wrapping their heads has cut off all oxygen to their alleged brains!

This is almost as sad as the story about the poor Islam girl that was gang raped and got 50 lashes because the men in the car weren't her male relatives. Then when she went to the media about it....got ANOTHER 50 lashes for "criticizing and embarrassing the Islamic Court."

I don't know why these kind of societies are tolerated by the powers of the world. Sadly, the US has enough problems with Christian dominance to do anything about it.

It's one thing to be proud of your faith, but quite another to condemn others not of that same faith for honest innocent mistakes. You can carry a faith, culture, TOO far!

Muhammad's arse

You know, one of the really disturbing things about this is that the court just *assumed* that the stupid bear was named after their putative prophet. As it is, Muhammad just happens to be one of the most popular male forenames in the entire Islamic world. How the hel did they *know* the children meant the prophet - it could very well have been named after some kid's uncle once removed, or father/brother/whathaveyou. It's all just stupid and sick and sad.

Frankly, I'm sick of this idiotic world and the cretins who inhabit it. I'm ready to move on.

Re: Muhammad's arse

Sorry babe....I'm afraid we're castaways on this planet, and they're not coming back for us.

For what it's worth...there are Muslims the world over that are horrified and angered over what this woman is being put through. They're urging the government over there to let her go and apologize...it was an honest innocent error.

Atta Girl!!!!!!!

Bravo!!! I held the exact same thoughts on this, when I first heard of the incident. I fully agree, my stars, someone with even a tad more intelligence than a turnip, should've taken the initial naming of the bear, as a tremendous compliment! Oh, and didn't it say, the teacher allowed the CHILDREN to name the bear?????????

Re: Atta Girl!!!!!!!

The fanatics conveniently ignored that part of the entire situation. CHILDREN....innocent children mind you, did the naming. Maybe it's a good thing they ignored that part....those asswipes would have probably punished the poor kids in some horrible fashion. Or killed their parents.
